2025 DO Monthly Challenges

This month is all about repetition: building our skills with strength so we can sparkle and shine with stunning technique. The goal is three classes per week for September, working with Ashley López, Sara Lyn, and Bevin on hipwork and undulations. You'll repeat classes each week so you can measure your growth.

For October, we are focused on our twist technique with Rachel, Sedona, Heather, and Colleena!

In August we kept our focus on Figure 7s in the upper body and hips.

Conditioning is an important part of building strong and precise dance technique! This month we work on focused conditioning exercises paired with specific dance practices.

Our challenge for June is working on all our gooiest movements in any style of belly dance: figure 8s, circles, undulations, and more.

In May we focused on building our musicality skills, learning rhythms and hearing from both musicians and dancers.

Shimmies are a quintessential element in belly dance and there are so many different kinds of shimmies we can explore! In this month-long challenge, you'll work with 3 videos a week to develop various shimmies, including the 3/4 shimmy, progressive hip shimmies, shoulder shimmies and more.

The DO Belly Dance Challenge gives you a chance to learn a choreography (or choreographies) and perform (if you want). But even if you don't want to perform, learning a choreography can teach us great lessons! From isolation patterns you might really enjoy adding to your own dance vocabulary to further developing your musicality skills, this month we are working on learning a choreography.

Finger Cymbals are an instrument commonly used in belly dance! This challenge is all about developing your cymbal skills in an approachable way, from learning how to make the cymbal sounds to beginning to dance with them.

Let's start a new dance adventure! We have to gather all our fundamental belly dance technique before we embark on this journey.
